ABOUT NONNA MONDA

Nonna Monda in Plaza Blanca, Spain, is a warm, inviting slice of Italy nestled in the heart of the vibrant plaza. Born from the cherished idea of a beloved Italian nonna, this charming deli offers an authentic Italian experience that feels like stepping into the cozy kitchen of an Italian grandmother.

As you walk through the door, the rich, comforting aromas of freshly baked bread, aged cheeses, and cured meats greet you. The space is filled with the rustic charm of Italy – wooden shelves lined with carefully selected products, from rich balsamic vinegars and extra virgin olive oils to jars of homemade pasta sauces and delicacies that remind you of Sunday family meals in Italy.

The heart of the shop is its counter, where a variety of artisanal cheeses, such as Parmigiano Reggiano, Pecorino, and Gorgonzola, are sliced to perfection. Italian cured meats like prosciutto di Parma and salami hang delicately in the cooler, waiting to be served in generous portions.

Every item in the store has a story, and the love and passion behind the products are evident. The nonna’s spirit is felt in the atmosphere—every detail, from the handwritten labels on the jars to the lovingly prepared sandwiches made with the freshest ingredients, reflects the essence of Italy’s rich culinary heritage.

Nonna Monda is more than just a place to shop; it’s a celebration of family, tradition, and the authentic flavours of Italy, lovingly crafted and shared with the local community in Plaza Blanca.

MEET THE TEAM

After a lifetime working in hospitality, working his way up from waiter to managing a Europe wide restaurant business, Andrea decided it was time to start a business of their own.

With Peter’s help, a lifelong salesman in financial markets, they have been driven to channel the memory of Andrea’s beloved Nonna Monda to create a delicatessen that reflects her love of everything Italian, particularly food.

From artisan cheeses and meats, to the purest extra virgin olive oil and the finest balsamic vinegars, it is their belief that with the knowledge of the provenance of the products on offer, the discerning residents of Sotogrande will experience a gastronomic experience that cannot be found anywhere else in the community.

This unique offering will be found both in the shop itself and as a delivery service.  The celebration of all things Italian will be offered at breakfast, lunch and always at aperitivo time.

“We look forward to meeting our customers as they return time and again to discover the world of Nonna Monda”
